Showing appreciation for others doesn’t have to be complicated. Follow this DIY for one simple gift idea at Christmas time.

Let’s get started making Christmas stovetop potpourri!

Step One:

Fill a cellophane bag or bakery bag with one whole orange and about a cup of cranberries.

Step Two:

Add a couple sprigs of rosemary to the bag. If you don’t plan to pass out your gift bags within a few days, skip the rosemary.

Step Three

Add 4-5 cinnamon sticks to your potpourri bag. It’s best to buy these in bulk. Lots of cinnamon is key to a potent, festive smell!

Step Four:

Pour cloves into a small drawstring bag or cellophane bag with a festive ribbon to tie it together. Add the cloves to the larger potpourri bag.

Step Five:

Tie the bags and decorate as you like! This example shows ribbon, jingle bells, and an instruction card.

How do you use the DIY Christmas potpourri?

Cut the orange into thin slices. Pour all ingredients into a saucepan. Add three cups of water. Simmer on low heat, and add additional water as needed.
